Mercy is an award winning, Kent-based, self-employed horticulturist.

With over 20 years of experience within UK horticulture, Mercy has worked as a horticulturist for RBG Kew at Wakehurst Place, in garden retail, as a writer and in plant conservation.

She is a Fellow of the Linnean Society and was awarded the first John Spedan Lewis Medal for a significant and innovative contribution to the field of conservation. She also achieved the Master of Horticulture (RHS) in 2011 and an MSc in Ethnobotany at the University of Kent in 2016.

She worked for over eight years with Plant Heritage as Plant Conservation Officer and Conservation Manager, administering the National Plant Collections and overseeing the conservation work of the charity. She currently volunteers for the Plant Heritage Kent group, designing and running the website and coordinating social media.
